Woo hoo, it’s Summer!
This is my favorite season and one of the reasons I love it is I eat more healthily. In winter, I’m always freezing and tend to avoid cold foods. When it’s warm out, I crave tasty fruits, veggies, and salads.
Boo-blerries
When my daughter was little she called blueberries “boo-blerries.” To this day, my husband and I still call them that. I eat a ton of this versatile fruit, especially this time of year.
Here are some health benefits of these low-calorie nutricious powerhouses, and my favorite way to eat them.
Little Size, Big Benefit
Often referred to as a superfood, boo-blerries are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that promote good health and help prevent chronic diseases, like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. They improve cognitive function and memory, they can help reduce inflammation in the body, and they’re a great source of fiber. They might also help fight urinary tract infections, lower blood pressure and reduce muscle damage after strenuous exercise, though more research is needed first.
Minty Fresh
My favoritest way to eat boo-blerries is fresh, with chopped mint on top of them. This may not seem like a game changer, but the combination of those flavors together is so yummy. And guess what?… chicken butt! Mint has plenty of health benefits, too. It can aid digestion, improve oral health, reduce symptoms of allergies and asthma, promote relaxation, and provide essential vitamins and minerals. Plus, it’s a natural remedy for bad breath! Maybe I should give some to my dog.
I also like bloobs when combined with dairy-free yogurt and other fresh fruit (like mangoes or strawberries, and with mint, of course), or added to my oatmeal. They’re also great as a snack in a Mason jar filled with yogurt, granola, and chia seeds. How do you love to eat them?
Guess Who Else Loves Boo-Blerries
My turkey friends, Laverne & Shirley, are big boo-blerry fans. Watch as they search for these little fruit balls underneath party hats! Click here
