Years ago I lived in France and when friends used to ask what they could bring me, I requested Frosted Mini Wheats (no comment). I wasn’t into other sugary cereals, but the combination of those wheat squares and sugar always hit the spot. Flash forward to last week….
I hadn’t thought about that cereal in I don’t know how long, but when I saw the giant Mini Wheat-esque square on a Kashi’s box at the grocery store, I was struck with a familiar craving and immediately grabbed it to see if it was vegan. It was!
I am so happy to see more and more companies making it EASY to identify whether or not their products are plant based. If you peek at my pantry photo, you’ll see four different brands with clearly labeled vegan options.

Back to my mini wheats mission. In addition to my new cereal purchase, I also discovered new non-dairy milks made by Chobani. I decided to try the Plain Extra Creamy variety, as I used to drink tons of 2% milk and I was curious about the consistency and taste of it. If you’re a fan of a thicker milk, I would definitely recommend this.
Now, you can’t recreate Frosted Mini Wheats without some serious sweetness, so I drizzled maple syrup onto my cereal. Mmmm! I don’t know if I was craving this due to all the chaos in the world or if it would have hit me anyway. Either way, I was quite pleased to have found a yummy and cruelty-free alternative to my former “go to.”
Because I’m worth it!
On the subject of comfort food, I’ve definitely been snacking and treating myself a bit more than usual. Below are some goodies that I’ve been enjoying. With so many shelves empty at the grocery store, now is the perfect time to try not yet hoarded vegan alternatives to your usual faves! Click on the photos to learn more about these products. Note that I am not compensated in any way for promoting these.
Additionally, I’ve been snarfing down vegan Girl Scout cookies! Did you know that ALL of the Thin Mints are vegan? Additionally, the S’mores, Lemonades, Thanks-A-Lot and Peanut Butter Patties made by ABC Baker (Not Little Brownie Bakers) are vegan, too.
