Is Ellie Mae cute, or what? She used to wear the number H864D in her ear. However, like other farmed animals, Ellie is someone NOT something.
Ellie Mae’s story
After being used as part of an Intro to Animal Science course in the University of Connecticut Agricultural Science Department, 5-month-old Ellie Mae was sent to auction. Mackenzie, the student trainer who worked with Ellie, was devastated and made a plan to save her beloved friend at auction. Unfortunately, Mackenzie was quickly outbid by a beef farmer. After many conversations, and many visits to the beef farm, Mackenzie finally brought Ellie Mae home and started a sanctuary named in her honor. Here, Ellie Mae lives her best life with her daughter, Zee (read her story here) and friend, Blackberry. To learn more about these sweethearts, head to Ellie Mae Farm Sanctuary.
15% of Ellie Mae cowmeo necklace sales are donated to Ellie Mae Farm Sanctuary and $1.00 from each sale is donated to The Humane League, a non-profit working to improve the lives of farmed animals.
My Celebration Collection celebrates beautiful animals like Ellie Mae, who now live their lives free from exploitation. Cows love their families just as we do. They are not commodities. See my Links page to learn more about how animals are exploited.

That 97% of dairy calves are taken away from their mothers within the first 12 hours of life so humans can drink their milk. This is traumatic for both mom and baby.
Cowmeos require a little extra love. They are water resistant, not waterproof. Showering, swimming and extended periods of heavy sweating in them should be avoided.
Keep cowmeos away from chemicals, soaps, salt water, etc. as these can affect the finish.
